New JACC selects a contractor

The New JACC announces contractor selection

The Partnership Board, on behalf of the New Juneau Arts and Culture Center (New JACC) project, is pleased to announce the selection of a contractor to begin a Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) approach to the development of the building. Cornerstone Construction, an Alaskan firm based in Anchorage, will join NorthWind Architects and the Design/Construction Committee of the Board to begin the Design Development phase of the project.

The New JACC is envisioned as a modern, flexible, and inviting community arts and culture center. It will embody the vibrant arts community of Juneau including music, drama, dance, visual arts, media arts, literary arts and cultural events. The New JACC will expand Juneau’s capacity to attract both visitors and residents, and will include:

A 300-seat theater
A large community hall
Green rooms and dressing rooms
Scene shop
A 120-seat black box/event studio
Gift shop
Meeting rooms
Gallery exhibit space
Café
Office spaces
Sound studio

The Partnership Board was formed in 2016 by the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council to design and construct the New JACC. The Board and this project aim to foster creativity and cooperation among artists, arts organizations, and the community of Juneau.
